Volleyball Rolls Past Bay Path, 3-0

LONGMEADOW, Mass. The New England College women's volleyball team defeated Bay Path University, 3-0 in three sets, in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) opener Saturday afternoon.

The Pilgrims came out hot on a 7-0 run to start the game and build an early lead. Bay Path was then able to string a few points together leading to an 8-3 NEC lead. New England College proved to be too much though as they cruised to a 25-9 win off a 17-6 run to close out the first set.

The second set saw a similar start with the Pilgrims cruising to an early 8-1 lead. NEC was able to maintain that lead despite some pushback from the Wildcats up until 14-7. Bay Path then scored six of the next eight points to cut the lead to 16-13. Despite the Wildcats best efforts though New England College was able to close out the set on a 9-2 run for a 25-15 win.

Bay Path was able to start the third set out strong building a 5-2 lead. However, the Pilgrims would then go on a 7-1 run to take the lead at 9-6. Both teams traded points leading to a score of 14-10. NEC then went on an 11-4 run to win the set 25-14 and the match 3-0.

- Shirita Wimberly powered the Pilgrims offense as she led the team in kills with 13.
- Jaycie Kodama led the team with 11 digs.
- Maggie Dadmum paced the Pilgrims with 18 assists.

New England College returns home a non-conference match against Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 24th.
